Hurray! Summer is here! Everyone is really excited to go out and visit some cool place right? And what coolest place to be but the beach!!!
April and May are the summer months here in the Philippines. It is really scorching hot and what better way to alleviate the heat than go to the beach or a resort. Alas, you do not just go there you have to prepare a lot of things especially if you’re with your family (with hyperactive kids! Ha ha
ha!)
As a mom here are some things that I would like to share whenever we go out and swim in a beach or a pool.
1. First Aid Kit/Medicines
Your trusty First Aid Kit is one of the most essential tools to bring whenever you go out. From your cotton balls, alcohol, band-aids, medicines and more! Plus this is not just for your kids but for the adults as well. Just in case the resort has no clinic then those meds in your first Aid Kid will treat any boo-boos of your children. (And adults too!)
2. Emergency Numbers
It is best to research the local numbers of a nearby hospital or clinic just in case of an extreme emergency especially if you are swimming in a very faraway place.
3. Life Guard
Make sure that there are life guards around the resort. They are there to help as your other eye in watching your kids. Then again, here in the Philippines there are some resorts that do not have a lifeguard so you as a parent must be vigilant in watching your kids. Don’t let your eyes astray even for a second!
4. Water
Swimming is so fun that sometimes you forget to drink. Along with the
scorching heat it will surely make you dehydrated. Don’t forget to teach your kids and the adults as well to drink lots of water not juices or sodas but plain water to refresh themselves!
5. Food
There are resorts that offer food via various restaurants lined along the beach or a nearby hotel but most Filipinos (Masang Pinoy) cannot afford that kind of cuisines because they are usually expensive. So it is better to BYOF à.k.a. Bring Your Own Food. Make sure that kind of food that you bring will not get spoiled. The all time favorite adobo (pork or chicken) is usually bought as it does not ruin easily. In addition, there are resorts that offer a place wherein you can cook but you have to bring your own charcoal or any cooking materials for that matter.
6. Extra battery for you cellphone/Lotsa-Load for Prepaid
There are some resorts that have electrical outlets in their cottages or huts but just in case make sure to bring an extra battery for your cell phone. You can also buy those solar powered battery chargers in some shops. A phone is now a necessity not an accessory.
7. Extra clothes for everyone.
Especially with kids. After they are done swimming they will surely play
a lot around the resort especially if there are playgrounds. So always bring some extra clothes for them to change whenever they are drowning in perspiration.
8. Toiletries (tissue, wet wipes, alcohol, alcogel, etc)
Tummy ache? Where is the tissue!!! AGHHHH!!!! Nuff said!
9. Vehicle Check up
If you’re going to bring your own car or any type of transportation and
you know that it’s going to be a long drive. Make sure to check it up thoroughly so that everything is working properly like the tires, brakes, lights, gas, and so on and so forth.
10. Selfie! Selfie!
Yes bring your cameras like a compact, DLSR or use your own cell phone to take a picture of yourself, families or friends enjoying those precious moment under the sun!!!
ENJOY SWIMMING!
